Cathedral Cleaner

Derby Cathedral is a busy, urban cathedral serving the City and Diocese of Derby, the County of Derbyshire, and substantial Sunday congregations.

Hours of work:        20 hours per week (flexible - over 5 mornings)

Salary:£8.75 per hour

Reports to:The Head Verger and Head of Operations

Overall purpose:

To maintain the Cathedral’s cleanliness and hygiene across public and back of house areas to a high standard

 

Duties:

  1. 1. Clean all public areas to a high standard
  1. 2. Clean all back of house areas to a high standard.
  1. 3. Identify any maintenance required and report to the Head Verger.
  1. 4. Maintain, check and complete items on the daily/weekly/monthly checklist of cleaning duties.
  1. 5. Adhere to all basic health and safety requirements including COSHH.
  1. 6. Adhere to the security of the building and its contents when on duty.
  1. 7. Ensure that appropriate decorum is maintained within the Cathedral at all times.

In addition the post holder will be expected to carry out any other duties which fall within the scope of the post but are not detailed in the above list.

Derby Cathedral is looking to strengthen its Hospitality Team with new members to support its various Cathedral events throughout the year.

The main duties of the role include; setting up a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot and cold beverages, greeting and serving the many members of the public that attend our events. Taking payment for purchases and then clearing away after the event.

Previous bar or event experience is not essential as training will be given but a friendly and approachable personality is a must.
