Dr Ian Turner, Head of Forensic Science at the University of Derby, will look at the role of forensics in modern criminal investigations.

Forensic Science, the application of science in a legal context is a popular topic with the general public due to successful TV shows like CSI and Law and Order. But what is the truth? How do real CSI and Forensic Scientists investigate serious crime? This talk will explore evidence such as Fingerprints, DNA, Footwear Marks and Fibres and discuss some of the amazing techniques used in their analysis.
