A Cathedral Seminar on "Religion in Britain since 1945: A Persistent Paradox"

with Professor Grace Davie

Author of a recent book with the same title, copies will be available.

Wednesday 7th October: Drinks at 7.00 pm

Seminar at 7.30 pm in the Cathedral Retro Choir

rsvp to by 1st October

Grace Davie is one of the most authoritative, balanced and accessible commentators on modern religion in Britain. Her take is that modern British people can’t quite do with or without religion, and markedly value a “weak established church.”

In her acclaimed recent book she suggests two contemporary modes of ‘being church’ in the Church of England: “conservative enclaves” and open institutions – often cathedrals. There is much to explore in a presentation and conversation ….. All will be very welcome.
