Dean prepares to say farewell

The Dean of Derby, Dr Jeff Cuttell, will bid farewell to the Derby Cathedral community and the Diocese of Derby at the morning service on Sunday 31st January (10.45 am).

Members of the Diocese, Cathedral community and the people who work in partnership with the Cathedral are especially welcome to attend.

Dean Cuttell announced his decision to leave his post as Dean in September when he acknowledged that, on reflection, he felt better suited to a different type of ministry.

Following the service there will be a reception. In recognition of his time at the Cathedral, the Chapter will be presenting Dr Cuttell with a stole especially commissioned and produced by the Cathedral’s Embroidery Workshop.

There will also be a cake made by Margaret Louch a member of the community, and other presentations will be made.

The Bishop, Dr Alastair Redfern and the Chapter of the Cathedral said that they would hold Jeff and his family in their prayers over the next few months as a new direction for Jeff’s ministry is discerned.

Dr Redfern said today: “We are grateful to Jeff for what he has been able to do in the short time that he has been in post and look to build positively as we move into the future.”
