Visiting Choirs

Derby Cathedral has a rich musical heritage, and sung worship is offered here most days.

Usually, this is provided by either our Cathedral Choir or Cathedral Voluntary Choir, but there are Sundays in holiday periods where this is not possible, and we are indebted to the time and talents of a number of visiting choirs. The Cathedral is well-known for its warm, friendly acoustic, and is blessed to have three organs, including the famous four-manual 100-stop Compton at the east end.

Any choirs interested in singing at Derby Cathedral should get in touch with the Assistant Director of Music, Edward Turner, on edward@derbycathedral.org, or by calling the Cathedral Office on 01332 341201.

There’s plenty to do round here, including many excellent pubs and restaurants, picturesque walks, and museums. Directly behind the Cathedral, you can find the brand new Silk Mill Museum of Making, on the site of the world’s first factory, and part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
